AZGOP Holds Successful Mandatory Meeting Phoenix - With less than 300 days until election day, the Arizona Republican Party held its bi-annual Mandatory meeting to elect officers, pass resolutions, approve continuing bylaws and recognize award winners for their efforts on behalf of the Republican Party. The AZGOP’s Mandatory Meeting featured distinguished guests including every member of Arizona’s Republican congressional delegation, statewide elected officials, legislators and candidates seeking office from around the state. In addition to speeches by prominent Republican leaders, the Arizona Republican Party elected its officers. Those elected to serve include; Augustus Shaw, First Vice Chairman; Buster Johnson, Second Vice Chairman; Parralee Schneider, Third Vice Chairman; Marne Haney, Assistant Secretary; Jerry Brooks, Assistant Treasurer; Alberto Gutier, Sergeant-at-Arms; J.P. Melchionne, Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms. “Our annual meeting is an opportunity for Republican leaders to come together and discuss the past, present and future of the Arizona Republican Party,” said Chairman Randy Pullen. “With Senator McCain, Senator Kyl, and Congressman Shadegg Flake and Franks, in attendance, we had one of the best attended meetings since I’ve been Chairman.” The meeting also recognizes the special efforts of grassroots Republicans with the Chairman's Awards. Recipients include: Senator Barry Goldwater Award, Linda White, AZGOP Secretary; Governor Howard Pyle Award, Dr. C.T. Wright; Volunteer Excellence Award, Vera Hylsky & Lucille Webb; Lifetime Achievement Award, Kenneth Going; Cal Holman Award for Most Outstanding Party Worker in the State, Marty Hermanson; Most Outstanding Party Worker in a District, Andy Lockridge; Most Outstanding Party Worker in a County, Bill Bridwell; Most Outstanding County In Overall Performance, Mohave County; Most Outstanding District in Overall Performance, Legislative District 19; Most Outstanding County Chair, Zack Taylor of Santa Cruz County; Most Outstanding District Chair, Pat Kilburn of Legislative District 29; Rookie of the Year, Cathy Schwanke, Legislative District 6; Best Club, East Valley Teenage Republican Club & Maricopa Republican Club. “The enthusiasm and energy of Republicans in Arizona was very apparent at the meeting,” continued the Chairman. “Motivation amongst the grassroots is at a level I haven't seen in some time and we're delighted with the prospects of having a fantastic year electing Republicans at the federal, state and local levels. More and more voters are becoming aware that the President is clearly taking our country in the wrong direction. In Arizona, they see that Democrats have been content to sit on the sidelines and unwilling to make the hard decisions our fiscal situation demands. The people attending the meeting know it, and will be working hard to spread our message around the state.” Paid for by theArizonaRepublican Party Not authorized by any candidate or candidate committee
