Kingman Republican Women’s Club Fair Booth 2008

The Kingman Republican Women’s Club booth at the Mohave County Fair was a huge success last weekend! During the four-day period, the Club had over 100 people register to vote. Several people indicated this was the first time in their life that they had registered – and they were of middle-age. Others had moved here recently and had not registered yet or just wanted to change their party affiliation. In addition, The Kingman Republican Women’s Club had 15 new members and 2 new associates join during the course of the fair.

Many members of the club expressed that there seemed to be a lot of energy generated by Senator McCain’s choice of Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin for his Vice President, and the unbelievable response from the community proved them correct. One member of the Kingman Republican Women’s Club said “everybody wanted something that said “Sarah” or “Palin” on it. Although the time was too short to get “Palin” campaign materials for the fair, we ran out of all the “McCain” bumper stickers and buttons we did have available.”  One member laughed by saying, “In fact, there were several times we reminded people that McCain was also on the ballot.”

For those who are interested in “McCain/Palin” campaign materials, there is an order of bumper stickers and yard signs on the way that should be available by the end of September at the GOP headquarters in Kingman. A spokes person for the GOP headquarters also said that an additional order of “McCain/Palin” buttons should be available in October.

The members of the Kingman Republican Women’s Club would like to thank and recognize some key people from the community for their support and time at the fair.  Margaret Foote is one who should be recognized and thanked for being on-hand during the entire fair, ensuring that the newly registered voters’ application cards were completed correctly for processing. The Women’s Club would also like to thank Doris Goodale’s campaign for donating the balloons and helium to the fair booth. One member said, “the balloons were a definite success – not only bringing a smile to many children during the fair, but opened a door to talk to some parents while we were handing out balloons to the kids.” Finally the Women’s Club would like to personally thank each of the volunteers who spent time at the booth answering questions and greeting people.

The Mohave County fair was a success this year.  It brought out many people from all around Mohave County.  After this year’s success, Mohave County can look forward to the booths in the years to come!
